High rate battery tester - The desire is to build a somewhat
flexible battery capacity tester that people could borrow for testing out a new
technology battery or for checking out individual batteries for their
conversion. The detailed requirements would still need to be defined, but
generally it would need to be able to discharge a battery at both low and high
(~75A) rates and be able to measure the Ahr output. Optional capability would be
to also recharge the battery and have various cycling options and othe discharge
options. Lee Hart has offered to serve as a mentor for this project.
Minnesota EV legislation - The goal for this project is for
someone to research the existing laws in Minnesota for electric vehicles and
generate a nice summary document for our web site. Would also like to talk to
leaders from EAA chapters in other states to find out what (if any) special
legislation exists in their states to promote electric vehicle usage. President
of eRide has been lobbying in this area and may be able to help (talk to Doug
Shoemaker).
Find new meeting space - The goal of this project is to find
a new centrally located meeting space which we can meet at every month. This
will save time and energy spent constantly coordinating the next meeting space.
Ideally, the location will have free parking and ample space for checking out
EVs, will be publicly available (so we don't have to cancel the meeting if the
person with the keys can't show up), and will have internet access and LCD
projection capability. The Flannery Construction building could work, but we are
not able to get internet access and need to bring our own LCD
projector.
