The Minnesota Electric Auto Association (MNEAA) had
a substantial presence at the Living Green Expo held May 2 and 3, 2009
at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds.
Over 250 Minnesota exhibitors of environmentally friendly products, services, activities, and information
participated in the 2009 free annual event.
The outdoor exhibit for the MNEAA featured Mike Shoop's Volt Vette conversion and
inside there were conversions by Dave Peichel with his Geo Metro, Chris Simon and his Ford Focus, and
Roger Klisch with his MG conversion.
A steady stream of interested onlookers talked with members, got business cards
noting the club's website, and were encouraged to attend future club meetings. Many club members assisting
at the MNEAA area sported their new green club t-shirts with the "Land of 10,000 Outlets" emblazoned
on the back.
Additionally, and in separate exhibits, member Jim Black was on hand displaying
his electrically assisted bicycles, member Carl Gulbrandson exhibited Zap 3-wheeled neighborhood electric
vehicles and motorcycles and the new Current electric car which is being produced in Colorado. Segway
stand-up 2-wheeled electric vehicles featured escorted trial rides in the transportation area. A new
electric vehicle for the handicapped allowed a wheel chair to be maneuvered right up to the steering
wheel from a hatch back type entrance.
Club members assisted with set up and tear down of exhibits in lieu of payment
for exhibit space. Brad Lindberg, Special Events coordinator for the club arranged for workers.
