First a bit of history about this Fiero EV. This EV was build by a gentleman in Phoenix, AZ a number of years ago. He worked with Ken Koch at KTA to gather his parts and do the installation. This conversion was set up with an Auburn Kodiak 144V controller, onboard 110/220 Bycan charger, DC/DC and 18 8V trojan batteries. Overall a very nice conversion.

I acquired this EV through Craigs List and had it shipped to my shop in Rockford, MN.

After some inspection time, it appeared that the Fiero would need new batteries. In the process of removing the batteries for replacement, I found that the battery racks were is tough shape due to leaking batteries and stress. So what started as a simple pack replacement has turned into something more.

The plan is this:

1) New insulated battery boxes with venting fans
2) Adding charger interlock for safety and fan control
3) New DC/DC and accessory battery (only had dc/dc before)
4) Replace the existing charger with smaller, lighter 110V opportunity charger
5) Reposition components for better access, airflow and safety

Roger's 66 MGB

In Progress - very close to done. 
I purchased this 66 MGB last Spring with the intension to convert to electric. I did not get that much done over the summer due to multiple commitments. I am moving along now (when I have time). So far I have stripped the ICE and all parts not needed for the conversion. I sold most of them on line. Then I began to clean up the vehicle. An old car like this does need some TLC. I've pulled the seats, stripped the interior, and patched holes. I rebuilt the brakes and have the basics covered, although much restoration is still needed to make this a true classic show car.

As far as the EV portion, I have purchased and installed the DC motor. I have just ordered the DC drive assembly. I plan to run this on a 96V system. The rough figures I have (from some ev shops) tell me I can achieve hiway speeds and a decent range with this configuration. I am hoping for 60/60. 60 mph, and 60 miles under optimal conditions.

I am a machine control engineer so much of this comes easy for me. I work a lot with motors, drives, sensors, and wiring. One plan I have is to include a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). I do not want to share my intensions on that just yet.

I will keep this site informed as I reach new milestones.
